ARTISTS
Alessia Sanchez
Alessia Sanchez is a Miami based artist born and raised in Cuba. Since immigrating to the US at 15, she has found her true home in creative exploration. Driven by her love for painting, analog photography, and literature, her work is a meditation on her ever-changing understanding of identity.
Her formal fine arts studies began at Miami Arts Charter High School. There, she began digging into the duality between her abstract and realistic paintings and finding inspiration in artists like Remedios Varo, Hilma Af Klinton, Sonja Sekula, Kara Walker and Francis Bacon.
As a senior in high school, she won a silver medal in the national YoungArts competition. She also completed a course for analog photography at the Miami Institute of Photography
Alessia 2019s most recent paintings are largely shaped by her study of Buddhist philosophies and spiritual practices. They are particularly concerned with the ego and how it motivates people to act from a place of fear instead of love. In her abstract works she nurtures what she calls "the wild and psychic woman within her".
Currently, Alessia is furthering her studies on consciousness and memory. She is excited to discover the ways in which they impact parts of the human experience while simultaneously connecting with the environment.

Alessia Sanchez is available for private bookings

Available most Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 5pm

My painting shows that the absence of color can be the focal point . The background is several layers heavy pigment washes. The Egret is lightly highlighted showing that sometimes in art less can be more.

Title or Location: A Mother?s Touch
This is a painting I did for a very dear friend who lost her mom. The painting shows that a mother?s touch is so incredibly special and never forgotten . This monochromatic painting does not lead the viewer by color, it hopefully allows a greater impact of the subject matter.

Title or Location: A concerto of passion
I believe this painting is a poetic statement, and speaks to the profound impact that music can have on our emotions. There is a strong relationship between music and visual art and I love them both. Expressing myself through watercolor never disappoints me and that is my hope for all who view it.

This piece was hand carved by me using knives and gouges in my shop in Zachary LaThis piece is done in Alaskan Cottonwood Bark. The bark is only harvest from dead trees. The best bark comes from a cold weather climate where it grows thick to help protect the tree. This is what?s known as a wood spirit carving loosely based off the medieval myth that sprits were in the woods to protect the forest. Travelers would carve faces in their walking sticks to please the spirits for safe passage th

This is a portrait of Monty, one of our family of cats. Unfortunately, Monty passed away late last year, succumbing to an agressive cancer. Monty was an extremely loving, though demanding, cat and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
